Two Mustangs Qualify for Asics National Championships in Fargo, ND in July

Michael Hobbs and Thomas "Junior" Nimakoh both won their respective weight classes at the IL 2nd Chance Qualifier at Sycamore High School on Saturday, June 1st.  This means that both will wrestle at the most prestigious high school wrestling tournament in the United States next month, the 2013 Asics Junior National Wrestling Tournament in Fargo, ND.  Both Hobbs and Nimakoh placed 3rd in the state (Hobbs at HWT in Greco and Freestyle and Nimakoh at 160 in Greco).  This meant that they would wrestle the winner of a mini-tournament in a best of three match series.  Nimakoh was the first to secure his Fargo ticket by defeating Ernesto Ramirez from Headlock Wrestling Academy in two consecutive matches.  The first by a tech-fall and the second match by fall.  Nimakoh's accomplishment is nothing sort of remarkable from an individual who just started the sport 18 months ago.  Hobbs had a tall task in securing his birth as he needed to beat 2012 National Freestyle Runner-up Nicky Allegretti, who also defeated Hobbs last year at the Cadet Nationals in Fargo.  Hobbs was up to the task and dominated both matches securing his birth for the second consecutive year.  Hobbs becomes the first Mustang wrestler to secure consecutive Fargo births since Ben Apland and Trevor Wenmouth accomplished this feet five years ago.  Hobbs placed 7th last year in Greco and was a match away from placing in Freestyle.  The Asics National Championships will be held in the Fargo Dome in Fargo, ND next month.
