The 2015 off-season has already been a busy for the Mustangs as three wrestlers have already earned All-American honors through the USA Wrestling Folkstyle National Tournaments. Sophomore McKyla Kerr was a member of Team IL and traveled to the USAW Girls Folkstyle National Tournament to participate in the Cadet and Junior National Tournament. McKyla placed 3rd at the Cadet level and 7th at the Junior level to earn All-American honors in both. McKyla is the first female to earn All-American honors in Wrestling in the history of Downers Grove South. McKyla also was a member of Team IL in the National Duals which also took place in Oklahoma City, OK.
Eight members of the DGS program traveled to the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, IA to wrestle in the USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals. Two Mustangs earned All-American honors, and one won the first National Title in the history of DGS. Freshman Sergio Villalobos finished in 4th place at the Cadet level at 195 lbs, and Sophomore Zach Muller pinned his way through the national tournament winning the title at 285 lbs at the Cadet level. Six other wrestlers participated and won matches at USAW Folkstyle Nationals.
