Six FR/SO Mustangs Advance to State Tournament!!!

The three state qualifiers that the Mustangs sent to the IHSA State Tournament in February tied a school record that had not been accomplished since 1984.  This past weekend, the Mustangs broke a school record by advancing six FR/SO wrestlers to the FR/SO State Tourament in Springfield, IL.  Freshman Amhir Hooks (101 lbs) advanced with a 3rd place finish as did former Eisenhower teammate Patrick Wilson (195 lbs).  The Sophomore class advanced four to the state tournament starting with Shawn Jaeger (2nd at 132 lbs), Josh Oakes (3rd at 138 lbs), Perry Tonoff (2nd at 152 lbs) and Marcus Rutledge (3rd at 285).  Freshman Tyree Johnson, Mark Chapman, and Romarro Lamar also competed in the sectional, but did not advance to the state tournament.

The six Mustangs will look to end their extended season this weekend with a top eight finish at the FR/SO State Tournament in Springfield, IL which is held at the Prarie Capital Convention Center in downtown Springfield.

Also, another reminder that the Awards Banquet was re-scheduled for this THURSDAY, MARCH 5 at 6:30 PM in the student cafeteria.
