SO Hobbs Qualfies for FR/SO State in Springfield

Sophomore Mike Hobbs won the Sectional title at 285 lbs this past Sunday in route to qualifying for the FR/SO State Tournament this weekend in Springfield, IL.  Hobbs started the day with a 3-1 win over an opponent from Glenbard North.  In the semi-finals, Hobbs matched up against another Glenbard North wrestler who immediately took Hobbs down to his back in the first period and was up in the match 5-0.  Hobbs battled off of his back lived to wrestle another period.  The 2nd period proved to be a bit different.  The two wrestlers locked up in an over/under position, but this time Hobbs was the aggressor and threw his strong opponent to his back.  Hobbs held him there for about 20 seconds while making adjustments before earning the 2nd period fall.  In the final match, Hobbs wrestled an opponent from LT and Hobbs controlled the match and won 5-1.  Hobbs will be competing in the FR/SO State Tournament this Saturday and Sunday where he hopes to bring home some hardware for the 3rd consecutive week.  Good luck Mike, we know you will do well!
