Hobbs Gets National Recognition

A nationwide wrestling publication took notice after a very successful 2013 Spring and Summer for Mustang Senior HWT Michael Hobbs.  Hobbs was a member of four National Championship teams this summer as he participated in the Greco and Freestyle Duals as well as in both Freestyle and Greco at the Fargo Junior National Championships.  Hobbs placed 7th in Greco and 8th in Freestyle which made him the first double All-American in the history of Downers Grove South.  Wrestling Insider News Magazine (WIN) is a nationwide wrestling publication that has articles and rankings on Olympic, College, and High School Wrestling.   Hobbs is highlighted in two sections of WIN Magazine.  First is in their rankings.  Win has Hobbs listed as the #18 ranked Heavyweight in the United States.  Hobbs is the first Mustang to be nationaly ranked since former Mustang and Michigan Wolverine Ben Apland.

Hobbs is also highlighted in an article written by Rob Sherrill, a national wrestling reported who also compiles the IL High School Rankings.  Sherrill has created an RPI ranking for Spring and Summer wrestling.  These rankings are based on quality wins and losses vs. other nationaly ranked opponents.  Sherrill has Hobbs tied for 3rd in the HWT RPI rankings.  While rankings are just a matter of someone's opinion, it is always nice to have accomplished recognized.
