Well, the "off-season" has officially started for the Mustangs. The DGS Wrestling program hosted the FR/SO Regional for the first time on Saturday taking over for Lyons Township who had hosted the event for over 15 years. Twelve Mustangs competed in the IWCOA sponsored event where the top four qualify for the FR/SO Sectional Tournament next weekend at Hinsdale South. The Regional also served as a fundraiser for the Mustangs as they start their off-season training regimen.
Out of the twelve Mustangs that competed, nine advanced to the Sectional which tied the record set last year when the Mustangs also advanced nine to the Sectional Tournament. The Sectional Tournament will take place next Sunday, May 9th at Hinsdale South High School with wrestling slated to begin at 10:00 AM. The top four wrestlers from each weight class will advance to the FR/SO Tournament which will take place at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center in Springfield, IL on March 15th and 16th.
