Alumni Night This Friday vs Morton

The Downers Grove South Wrestling program will be hosting its second annual Alumni Night this Friday, December 21st vs the Morton Mustangs.  Last year over 30 Alumnus came out to watch the Mustangs defeat their West Suburban Gold Conference rival Leyden Eagles in an exciting dual.  The 2012-2013 Mustangs hope to put on another show for the Alums.  Coach Frank Geraci will be hosting a pre-meet social during the JV duals and Roundheads will be hosting the post meet social.  JV and JV II start at 6:00 PM on Friday, while Varsity should be underway around 7:00 PM.

The 2012-2013 Mustangs are coming off a 10th place finish at Hinsdale Central out of 25 teams in what has become one of IL's toughest tournaments.  Seven Mustangs placed in the two day tournament led by a 3rd place finish by Junior HWT Michael Hobbs.  Joe Nugent (126-7th), RJ Hickock (145-8th), Alex Anaya (160-4th), Rob Gagala (182-7th), Sam Patula (195-7th) and Rob Barry (220-6th) all placed for the Mustangs.  During the holiday break the Mustangs will travel to Whitewater, WI to wrestle in the two-day WI Mid-States Classic.  The tournament is one of the toughest in WI and looks to be a challenge for the Mustangs.  UW-Whitewater is also home to former 2X All-State Mustang Willie Anaya who was starting for the Warhawks at 157 lbs before suffering a concussion last month.  The Mustangs will also travel to Sycamore on Saturday, January 5th to participate in another one of IL's toughest tournaments.

The Mustangs head into the Morton meet with a 1-1 WSC Gold Conference record.  We suffered a close defeat with a depleted line-up vs the upstart Addison Trail Trail Blazers, but bounced back with a convincing win vs rival Hinsdale South the next week.  The Mustangs are seeking their 3rd consecutive WSC Gold Conference title and 4th overall in school history.
