DGS Wrestling Car Wash Red Hot!!!!

With the DGS Wrestling program on a bit of a wrestling hiatus at this point in terms of training and competition, the program threw it's first car wash fundraiser on Sunday, June 1st.  The car wash was held in the parking lot adjacent to Auto Zone and Cozzi Corner who partnered with the DGS Wrestling program on the event.  All proceeds rasied from $5 pre-sale tickets, $5 drive-ups, and tips went to the wrestling program.  Cozzi Corner was also generous enough to donate 20% of any purchases made with a DGS Wrestling Benefit Days coupon from March 28-June 1.  Auto Zone also donated the cleaning supplies for the wash.  Proceeds from the car wash will be directed to the purchase of three new lightweight Dollamur mats, the WI Dells Team Camp (June 23-26), and to help fund a varsity trip to a tournament in OH next season.

The weather was great as over 20 Mustangs along with several family members came out to be a part of the fundraiser.  Soon to be Senior Joe Nugent made several teenage girls blush with chiseled physique and expertise in the car washing business.  While soon to be Junior Mark Chapman did back-flips along Lemont Rd. for tips and to drum up business on the day.  There was always and line, and the boys exceeded expectations for the quality of the car washes, with the exception of one black SUV :).  The sun was beaming and not only was it a great day to raise some money for the program, but also a great day for the boys to come together as a team.  With the exception of the need for aloe later in the evening (see below), there was not much to complain about on the day!

The Mustangs will be "officially" back in action on Monday, June 16th as the DGS Wrestling Summer camps begin that week.  Grades 1-6 will go from 3:30 PM-5:30 PM from June 16th-19th, while grades 7th- 12th will go from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM on those same dates and three weeks after for their summer program.  More information and registration can be found at:  DGS Wrestlling Summer Camps.

Special thanks to Wendy and Alex Villareal from the DG Cougars and Cozzi Corner as they were not only generous enough to host the fundraiser, but also saw their oldest son AJ graduate from Lyons Township High School.  AJ was an IHSA State Place winner and will continue his career at one of the best DIII programs in the nation, UW-Lacrosse.

Also thanks to all the parents who came out and helped on the day, we could not have pulled this off without them!!!!
