Six Mustang Freshman and Sophomore wrestlers participated in the FR/SO Regional on Sunday at Lyons Township HS in LaGrange, IL. Sophomore Abanob Bebawy (126) had a great run to the finals and took 2nd place to advance to the Sectional Tournament. The Mustangs unfortunately had three FR at 138 on Sunday, and only advanced one to the Sectional tournament. FR Josh Oakes took 4th place on the day to advance. Perry Tonoff and Eric McAleer also participated on Sunday but did not advance in a tough weight class. The Mustangs also had multiple entries at HWT where Sophomore Mike Hobbs dominated the weight class in route to a Regional Title. Freshman Marcus Rutledge lost a heart breaker in the semi-finals in the ultimate tie breaker in OT to a Lyons Township opponent, and did not adavnce.
Bebaway, Oakes, and Hobbs will look to advance to the FR/SO State Tournament in Springfield, IL by placing in the top 4 at the Sectional tournament at Hinsdale South High School this Sunday. Best of luck to the Mustangs!
